Weiter geht's mit dem alltäglichen Bloggeschäft mal ein bisschen jenseits vom Haarasufall. :)
Eine der ersten Abkürzungen, auf die man stößt, wenn man im Netz auf den einschlägigen Langhaarseiten unterwegs ist, ist SSS.
SSS steht für Stirn-Scheitel-Spitzen und bezeichnet die Messmethode, in der die Haarlänge angegeben ist.
Dabei wird ein Maßband vom Stirnhaaransatz über den Scheitel bis zu den Spitzen gelegt und dann die Länge abgelesen.
Die reale Haarlänge ist natürlich kürzer, die Scheitellänge muss abgezogen werden (meine ist 15cm lang und mein Kopf ist ziemlich groß), aber mit der realen Länge ist es viel schwerer reproduzierbare Ergebnisse zu erzielen, weil es nicht so einen klaren Punkt zum Anhalten des Maßbandes gibt, wie vorn an der Stirn. Deswegen wird diese Methode bevorzugt.

When you come to grow hair online you will find pretty soon a strange abbrieviation: SSS.
SSS means: Stirn-Scheitel-Spitzen (front-part-ends if you like, but I guess this translation is not correct, please comment, if you know the right abbrieviation in English), which tells you how the hair has been measured. You place your maesuring tape exactly at your hairline at the front, over your part, down to the ends. Of course you have to substract the length of your part (mine is 15cm and a have a real big head) to get the real hairlength, but measuring like this is much more exact, than measuring from any point at the back of your head you can't find again so easyly.

Das passiert gern, wenn ihr selbst ablesen wollt, dass sich das Maßband dreht oder ihr es falsch herum aufgelegt habt (es dreht sich automatisch dadurch, dass ihr es nach vorn holen müsst). Also einfach umdrehen und das richtige Ergebnis ablesen. 97cm. Passt.
Vielleicht habt ihr aber auch jemanden, der euch behilflich ist. Stellt euch schon mal auf folgenden Dialog ein:
"Also, die meisten Haare sind bei Xcm, ein paar sind aber auch bei Ycm."
"Und wie lang sind die jetzt? X oder Y?"
"Naja, die meisten sind bei X..."
Wenn ihr also einen demütigen Messhelfer gefunden habt, sagt ihm vorher, dass er langziehen soll und dass das letzte Haar zählt. Wenn das für euch so ist (für die meisten zählt das letzte Haar). Langziehen solltet ihr auf jeden Fall. Nicht nur bei Locken und Wellen, auch bei glattem Haar macht das ein paar Zentimeter aus und es geht um Reproduzierbarkeit und um Vergleichbarkeit mit andern. Locken/wellen sich eure Haare stark, könnt ihr auch beides messen: langgezogen und optisch. Ihr werdet sehen, optisch schwankt stark und das Shrinkage kann gerade bei Locken extrem sein.

This happens easyly, if you measure on your own. The tape can twist and you look on the wrong side. Flip it and read your correct results. 97cm. That`s it.
Maybe you are lucky and have a help. If so you will end up probably like this:
"Well, most hairs ar Xcm long, but some are Ycm long."
"Okay than, and how long are they?"
"Ehm, most of them are at Xcm..."
You see, if you have such a nice person at your side who understands your hairobsession, be nice and tell him or her before which length you mean. I highly recommand to pull a bit at the hair, because that can make a difference of several centimeters even on straight hair. If you pull, you can reproduce your results, if not, well, than not. But you can measure both: Pulled hair and hair how it naturally lies down. With waves or curls that can make a big difference due to the shrinkage. Labels: basics, how to..., length
